Living for God’s Glory

Do all for the glory of God.  Do not do things to make people feel good, or to help them or to have them like you.  But do things so that people will come into their full purpose in life, which is to know and glorify God.  This means we will still do many of the same things we are doing, things which help people, but we will do them with a different attitude – we will want to see them glorifying God.  We will want to see God glorified by the people we help or work with.

God has a plan to fill the heavens and earth with His glory.  He has a plan to fill us with His nature, with His desires so that He can glorify us.  God desires to exalt and to glorify what is of Him.  He desires to glorify Himself.  He does this because He is so much better than any of his creation.  It is right and natural for God to exalt what is great and marvelous.  This is what is good.  God is good and wise therefore He exalts that which is the best and most beautiful   That which is best and most beautiful is Himself  Therefore He glorifies Himself.

God created us with a heart that could appreciate what is beautiful and marvelous.  Satan has blinded us to the glory of God and exalted himself and his ways, which can appear to be better than ours, and deceived us into thinking that he was the most glorious of beings.  He was created as one of the highest of the heavenly beings but looked at himself and stopped looking at God and then fell into rebellion against God and tried to lead others into his rebellion.  He promised others more than they were receiving from God and deceived them into thinking that being in his kingdom would be better than living in God’s kingdom.

We were created with the ability to appreciate and exalt things.  Jesus knew this and lived to exalt His Father.  He lived for Him, He lived in Him.  He desired for others to come into this place.  He humbled Himself and became a man.  He became weak like us.

He came to glorify His Father.  He came to do the will of His Father.  He had faith in His Father‘s plan.  He stayed in the corral of His Father’s will.  He waited until 30 to begin His ministry.    He trusted in His Father’s will and plan.  He glorified God in exalting the will of God over His own human will.  He glorified God in waiting for His Father’s timing.  He was obedient to His Fathers will and His Father’s principles.  He let people know that He loved to glorify His Father.  He knew He would have to die for our sins.  This act would bring glory to His Father.  He knew that He was not eternally destined to remain in death.  He knew that He was called to glorify His Father by being in heaven with Him.  He knew He was the One through whom the Holy Spirit would come to earth so that we too could be filled with the life of God and glorify Him.  He even trusted in His Father to raise Him from the dead so that He could glorify God when He would be brought back into heaven.  He asked God to glorify Himself so that He could glorify us with His glory so that we too could glorify God.  He knew that we needed the life of God in us so that we could glorify God.  He would glorify us with His glory so that we could be one with His Father and glorify God

IF WE LIVE TO GLORIFY GOD GOD WILL GLORIFY US

"Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. John 17:24 (NKJ)

We were Created by God to Give Glory to Him

Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth-- Everyone who is called by My name, whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him." Isa 43:6-7  (NKJ)

The Bible says that God created us for us to know him and to glorify Him.  God is the most beautiful, majestic and marvelous of all the beings in the universe.  This is why He calls Himself God.  His ways are far above the ways of men.  His purposes are superior in wisdom and blessedness than the ways of men or of other created spiritual beings. There are angels who live before the throne of God have watched the actions of God and have seen the being of God for centuries.  Their continuing response is to declare that God is holy – superior to all of His created beings, including themselves. (Is 6:3)  Jesus came to reveal the greatness of God to us, so that we could know God.  The life of Jesus knows the greatness of God.  The life that Jesus gives to us reveals to us the greatness of God.  Jesus, like His Father wants us to know the greatness of God and to glorify Him, just as He did.  (John 17:3-4)

God promises that His people will glorify Him

"And He said to me, 'You are My servant, O Israel, in whom I will be glorified.' Isa 49:3 (NKJ)

God wants the best for His people.  He knows that His ways are best.  He knows that His plans and purposes for His people are best.  He knows that only in living according to His plan for us will we be fulfilled and most satisfied.  A butterfly will not be happy if he has been told that he is a worm and should act as a worm, trying to find happiness living by making his home in the dirt.  God promises to restore us by putting the life of Jesus into us and uniting us with that life.  Jesus found His fulfillment by serving His Father.  He found His pleasure in determining and doing the will of His Father.  He now reigns in heaven, entrusted with the complete dominion over all of God’s creation.  He knows the eternal blessedness of serving God while on earth, and glorifying God through being obedient in His earthly life so that now He can serve God in His heavenly life. (John 17:4, 5, 22)

God will build up His people so they will glorify Him

For the LORD shall build up Zion; he shall appear in His glory. Ps 102:16 (NKJ)

God is a pure spiritual being.  He does not have a human body.  He communicates to us through our spirits.  Our spirits can be oppressed with the cares of life. (Luke 21:34)  Our spirits can be wounded by words or actions of others.(Prov 15:4)   Our spirits can become deadened by the guilt of sin.  (Heb 12:1 ; Rom 8:1)  God wants to restore us into being a spiritual people, a people who walk by the impressions of our spirit.  Jesus came to heal the wounds in our spirit.  (Luke 4:18)  The Holy Spirit of God comes to dwell in us and to strengthen our spirits so we can know our God and be filled with His ways. (Eph 3: 16-19)  As our spirits become healed and cleansed we will see God and understand His ways. (Matt 5:8)   As we continue in this process of being transformed we will know and see the Glory of God.  (Heb 2: 9)

Our Primary purpose is to do things that will bring glory to God

Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Cor 10:31 (NKJ)

God created us to know and live for His glory.  This was discussed at the beginning of this document.  As this truth witnesses to our spirits, our primary focus will become to do things so that God will be glorified.  Often I have done things which would have people notice me.  Often I have done things so that people would know that I cared for them.  Often I have done things so that people would be helped and healed and freed from pain or difficulties.  Many times the people would respond by telling me what a good person I was or what a great ministry we had or how good they now feel because of what I did for them.  These are all good things, but they are not the best things.  God would have us do all things to glorify Himself.  God would have us seek to focus on doing things that would bring glory to Him.

Our focus then becomes on letting people know that we are committed to doing the will of God as we know it, and what we do is what we believe God wants us to do or say to them.  Our purpose in doing then is based on who we are.  We are people who are created to glorify God.  God has put His life in us through Jesus.  We therefore do things that are good for people because it is our nature to want to help people so they can know that they too were created by God to bring glory to Him.  Jesus said,  ‘Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven’ Matt 5:16 (NKJ)

Jesus did miracles and the people glorified God

So the multitude marveled when they saw the mute speaking, the maimed made whole, the lame walking, and the blind seeing; and they glorified the God of Israel. Matt 15:31 (NKJ)

Our God is a God who does supernatural things so that people will know His power and love transcends the natural world we live in.  God would give His power to humans so that they could help people who were in physical, mental, and physical bondage.  Jesus came to free people from these bondages.  BUT He did it in a way that the people knew that it was God who was in Christ doing the works.  Jesus attested to this truth that it was His Father in Him who did these miraculous works.  Jesus was motivated by doing all things to bring glory to His Father.  God could then entrust Him with His Divine resources and power to help people.  Jesus desires that we too should do miraculous works.  But first he must do a more miraculous work in us in freeing us from the desire to draw attention to ourselves.  Jesus knows the joy and rewards of living to bring glory to His Father and does not want us to miss out on this highest of the highest motivations and blessings, living to bring glory to God.

Receiving the Zeal and Passion of God

The Desire and Plot to Cast off the Restraints of God’s Laws--Psalm 2:1-3

Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?  The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, ‘Let us break Their bonds in pieces and cast away Their cords [restraints] from us.’" (Psalm 2:1-3 NKJ)

We live in an age in which kings and rulers seek to free themselves from the restraints of Christianity--if not in this life, then in the next.   Our society is quickly becoming a place where most anything goes.  Moral standards are becoming lessened, if not absent.

We live in a time when some business and governmental leaders gather for a time of partying and “raising hell,” to use their term.  At this event they first go through a ritual of bringing to death their cares, through a “Cremation of Care” ceremony.  They want to be free of cares so they can enjoy the frivolity of the gathering.  In the ritual, a coffin containing the body of “dull care” is carried in by the leaders, who are dressed as priests.  This coffin is burned as a sacrifice to the owl god, representing the wisdom of man.  When “dull care” has been cremated, and wisdom and direction given by the forty-foot owl figure, the men are free to operate in a carefree environment.  Then the partying begins.

The partying at events like the one described above is but a re-enactment of much of what happens on college campuses at fraternity and sorority parties.   I know; I was exposed to these things and readily participated in them when I went to a well-known liberal arts college.   A favorite song we sang at our fraternity beer blasts contained the phrase, “For it’s not for knowledge that we came to college, but to raise hell while we’re here.”  The men described above openly confess this time spent at their annual gathering is like a re-enactment of their “carefree” college parties.

Some religions promote a heaven where men can have free release of their lustful desires; they are promised access to wine and virgins to be used to satisfy their unrestrained sexual desires.

The Bible’s moral standards are looked upon as old-fashioned, or only for “conservative Christians” and are not to be imposed on others.  In fact, even wearing or openly displaying Christian symbols is no longer permitted in some places, because it might offend those living outside the moral standards of the God of the Bible.  The Bible says this will happen.  The verse quoted above even says that the nations will become enraged at the Christians, imagining themselves able to live without the restraints of God.  History has shown that a nation need not be totally Christian to survive.  However, when a nation begins to openly mock and flagrantly reject the standards of God’s moral law, that nation will not last.  History has shown that also.

The Response of God the Father--Psalm 2: 4-6

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; the LORD shall hold them in derision.  Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure:  Yet I have set My King on My holy hill of Zion." (Psalm 2:4-6 NKJ)

God is a God of passion.  He is a God of love.  He loves people.  He loves to reveal Himself, His ways, and His nature and purposes to people.  He knows man’s rebellious nature, received from Satan and imparted to man when man chose to listen to and obey Satan rather than God.  He is a loving God, wanting show His love and His righteous ways to people, and to impart His nature and character to them so they will love His ways and presence as He does.  God is passionately angry at the rebellious and God-mocking ways of Satan and of fallen man.  He has chosen to vent His righteous anger on His sacrificial Lamb.  Man received his sinful ways and desires from Satan.  God can take them from man and put them upon His sacrificial Lamb, if men desire to be free of them.

God has a plan to remove evil from the earth and heaven.  Then Satan will have no place for himself or his desires except in the darkness and fires of hell.  In hell, Satan will fully vent his rage against the ways and nature of God.  Then all restraints will be removed from Satan and his angelic followers and from the people who want to be with him.  They will be able to lust after each other, to behave violently against each other and to lie and cheat each other with no repercussions.  All the restraints of God’s morality will be completely removed.

God accomplished His plan through Jesus, His Son, becoming the sacrificial Lamb.  God put the sin of the world on Jesus.  Satan crucified Him and tried to hold Him in hell.  God sent His Spirit to give Jesus the power to come out of hell and to come back to life.  Now Jesus has the God- given right to rule over Satan because of what he did to Jesus.  This has been God’s eternal plan.

God’s response to those who mockingly try to cast off His restraints and to keep God’s people from bringing the ways of God’s kingdom into themselves and the world,  is to laugh at the absurdity of their plans, to show them His displeasure, and to distress them.  We can expect these things to occur as the rage of the nations increases against the moral restraints God has given society.

When God told Moses to bring the children of Israel out of Egypt so that they could worship Him, the Pharaoh of Egypt refused.  God then began to show Himself more powerful than the gods the Egyptians were trusting in.  They trusted in the god of the Nile, so He turned it into blood.  They trusted in the sun god, so God brought darkness on the land.  They even believed that the Pharaoh was the manifestation of their primary deity and that his son was the heir-apparent to the throne, so God killed all the firstborn in Egypt.  God is able to deliver His people from the bondages of their enemies--physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  His purposes for His people will come to pass, even though the kings and rulers of the earth band together.

God’s answer--that He is speaking to the kings and rulers who are trying to mockingly come out from under the truth that God has created all things for His plans and purposes—is, “I HAVE SET MY KING ON MY HOLY HILL OF ZION.”  Jesus Christ is Lord.  He is king over all.  God’s response today is the same as it was 2000 years ago when Jesus, in the weakness of sinful flesh, was on the high mountain in Israel.  God said, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!" (Matthew 17:5 NKJ)  God is speaking, even when men are not listening.  He is speaking through His Son, through what He has done, is doing, and will do.  “Listen to My Son,” is His word to the kings and rulers who feel they can remove themselves and their lands and nations from God’s righteous restraints.

The Word Being Spoken by Jesus, Who Reigns on Mount Zion--Psalm 2: 7-9

"I will declare the decree: the LORD has said to Me, 'You are My Son, today I have begotten You.  Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession.  You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'" (Psalm 2:7-9 NKJ)

Jesus is speaking.  He is speaking the decree God had previously spoken to Him.  He is declaring that God had affirmed the truth that He was the Son of God.  Jesus knew this and had previously declared this many times during His life on earth.  Men could not grasp this without revelation from God.  When Jesus asked His disciples who they thought He was, Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" (Matthew 16:16 NKJ).  Jesus responded to Peter: “Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 16:17).  It takes God to reveal God.  The Father wants to reveal the Son.  The Holy Spirit is sent to reveal Jesus to us.  Jesus wants to reveal the Father to us.  There is a Divine love affair in the Godhead.  Each of the three Beings loves and respects the character, the work and function of the other.  They are One.  This is the word God wants Jesus to declare: that He is the Son of God and the firstborn from the dead, called to reign over the nations and to possess all the earth.

God raised Jesus from the powers of hell and death.  He raised Him so that Jesus could be our heavenly King and High Priest.  On the day of Pentecost, Peter revealed this to the Jews who were gathered at Jerusalem.  The Holy Spirit had fallen on the disciples, as Jesus had promised would happen.  After receiving the power of the Holy Spirit, Peter had a new boldness.  He said, "This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses. Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear. For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: 'The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.’” Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ" (Acts 2:32-36 NKJ).

God made Jesus Lord and Christ.  As Lord, He reigns from His place on heavenly Mount Zion.  As Christ, the Anointed One, He is our High Priest.  Peter was quoting from Psalm 110 when he spoke about God’s commitment to bringing all things under Christ’s dominion.  Psalm 110 says, “The LORD [the Father] said to my Lord [the Son], ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.’ The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!  Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power; in the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, you have the dew of Your youth. The LORD has sworn and will not relent, You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek" (Psalm 110:1-4 NKJ).

The Father has told the Son to sit at His right hand until He, the Father, brings all things under Jesus’ feet.  Jesus is to rule from Mount Zion.  He is to be our eternal High Priest.  Jesus knew this Psalm.  He often quoted it.  Now He is declaring from heaven this truth, that He is the Son of God and that He is to rule over all the nations.  He was to ask the Father for the nations, and God would give them to Him.  Jesus asked and God gave them to Him.  We know this because He told His disciples: "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:18-19 NKJ).

Jesus has been made Lord and Christ.  He has been brought back from the grave to accomplish this.  He is to break in pieces the nations, and rule them with a rod of iron.  This is His commission, and He is speaking this word from His place on the Heavenly Mount Zion.

The nations that are rising up with a rage and in their own vain imaginations shall be broken as He enables and empowers His disciples to bring about the reign of His kingdom and power.  While the nations rise up against God and against His Christ, God will rise up in Jesus and in His people and give them victory over their enemies.  This is what the prophetic vision given to Nebuchadnezzar described.

In Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, he saw a great kingdom arising, seeking to unite all the kingdoms of the earth, but while this was happening, Nebuchadnezzar also saw another kingdom arising which would destroy the kingdom of united kingdoms.  This kingdom would remain forever.  The Bible says, "And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever” (Daniel 2:44 NKJ).

The Admonition for All--Psalm 2: 10 -12

Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth.  Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.  Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him” (Psalm 2:10-12 NKJ).

The nations will rage, but the passion of God will rage in Christ and in His people.  Our passions will be set on fire for the things of God.  We will become zealous for good works.  We will have the zeal of the Father and the zeal of the Son.  Our High Priest will remove sin from us and we will be holy and without blame, without spot or wrinkle.

We need to be wise, with the heavenly wisdom of God.  The wisdom of this world is fast being revealed as totally insufficient for the coming situations.  Only the revelation knowledge and wisdom of God will suffice.  God is ordaining these events so that He can make His power and glory known in His people who will diligently seek Him and follow Him in these days.  Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God.  Jesus Christ is the Holy One of God, able to bring His holiness and righteousness into the hearts of His people and to manifest God’s love for His people and His wrath for the evil ways of this world’s system.  Remember God’s promises in the days of the kingdoms of evil arising: "And in the days of these kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever” (Daniel 2:44 NKJ).

Kiss the Son--receive righteous affections.  Become intimate with Him.  Share your heart, your emotions, your desires, your attitudes, with Him.  Let Him share His heart with you.  Learn to meditate on Him and on His word.  Spend time in intimacy with Him.  Worship Him in the beauty of His holiness.  Let your heart be a temple of His emotions.  Let your spirit become united with His.  Let your body be a temple of His for Him to operate in and through.  Live in His new covenantal relationship with Him. Learn to be His bride, filled with His nature and ready for the battles ahead.  Receive into all of your being, love from God for you, love of God for the world, and love of God for God.  Only God can do this.   Only God will do this.  He loves the world and His people.  He has many others to be brought into His kingdom in these days.  He will do it.  The Father is filled with a passionate zeal to see the kingdom of His Son brought into all the world, our hearts, our land, and the heavens over us.  Jesus is filled with zeal to see God’s kingdom established in us so we become a dwelling place for His Father.  The Holy Spirit has a passionate fire to impart into us to see these things brought into being.  Let us praise, honor, and follow our zealous and passionate God!

When I was at Mount Sinai 29 years ago, the Lord brought this Word into my spirit to speak in these days:
See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’  Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain.  Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:25-29 NKJ).

Pray for us and for each other that we all might receive grace to walk in these ways in these days.

Jesus Manifested YAHWEH

And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent. John 17:3-4 NKJV

"I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word.  Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. John 17:6-7

Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name. John 17:11-12 NKJV

God Says YAHWEH is My Name

God says “YAHWEH is My Name.”

God appeared to Moses and told him that He cared for His people.  Moses asked God to tell him His name.  God said “I AM who I AM.” (Ex 3:14-15)  He went on to say “I am YAHWEH. I appeared to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as God Almighty, but by My name YAHWEH I was not known to them.”  Ex 6:3)  The name YAHWEH is a form of the verb “to be,” meaning the eternally existing One who is the source of everything.

God is the author of life and salvation.  His “I AM who I AM” expresses that He is the infinite, eternal, and original God.  He is who He is, and no other being can define who He is.  He is behind everything and every thing must ultimately be traced back to Him.   His personal name YAHWEH implies that He is eternally interested in and cares for everything that exists.  He has a purpose for all that He has done, and all that He is and does comes forth from who He is.  He does what He is.

The “I AM who I AM” God, whose name is YAHWEH, has chosen to reveal Himself to us thru His Word.  The Scriptures are a revelation for men to know who God is, what His names are, what He does, what He has done and what He will do.  The Scriptures point us to Yahshua (Jesus) as the Ultimate Revelation of YAHWEH.  Yashua came to be and do what He needed to be and do as a man so that we could know His Father.  The Holy Spirit lived in Yashua so He could be empowered to do supernatural miracles while in a human body.

Now YAHWEH has sent His Holy Spirit into us so we can know the revelation of God in the Scriptures, and know the fullness of His Son who can dwell in us.  YAHWEH loves the Son and YAHWEH loves the Holy Spirit, because they are bringing about His love for the world.  The Son loves the Father and the Son loves the Holy Spirit, who wants us to Himself  and YAHWEH.   The Holy Spirit loves the Son and wants us to know Him.  The Holy Spirit loves the Father and wants us to know and love Him thru the Son.

There is a love relationship in the Godhead, Father Son and Holy Spirit.  They all love the world.  They all love all the nations of the world.  They all want us to proclaim the name of God to the world.  The name of God is YAHWEH.  This is why God has led us to make the logo of this ministry, “YAHWEH cares for all Nations.”

Further Understanding of the Name YAHWEH

Jehovah/Yahweh. One of the most important names for God in the Old Testament is Yahweh, or Jehovah, from the verb "to be," meaning simply but profoundly, "I am who I am," and "I will be who I will be."  God is the author of life and salvation. His "I am" expresses the fact that He is the infinite and original personal God who is behind everything and to whom everything must finally be traced. This name, "I am who I am," signals the truth that nothing else defines who God is but God Himself. What He says and does is who He is. The inspired Scriptures are the infallible guide to understanding who God is by what He says about Himself and what He does. Yahweh is the all-powerful and sovereign God who alone defines Himself and establishes truth for His creatures and works for their salvation.  From Nelsons Bible Dictionary
